In addition, the station is committed to creating and maintaining a work force that is truly diverse and representative of 2SER-FM's community of interest and will achieve this goal by:
1. Identifying and breaking down the physical, attitudinal, and structural barriers that
may prevent sections of the community from participating at the station;
2. Implementing recruitment strategies that aim to encourage a diverse range of
people to participate at 2SER-FM in:
a) general station programs;
b) specialist station programs;
c) special station projects; and
d) non-broadcast activities.
3. Ensuring that staff and volunteers have access to cross-cultural training, and the skills to work within and support a diverse work force;
4. Ensuring that all staff and volunteers are conversant with the principles of access and diversity and have the skills to participate in station life in an appropriate way;
5. Continuing to develop and support station programs that:
a. provide access to communities, often disenfranchised from mainstream media, to "speak" for themselves;
b. facilitate the positive media representation of marginalised communities;
c. provide a forum for marginalised communities to showcase and communicate their culture, lifestyle and values; and
d. provide a platform of intersection to the diverse elements of the Sydney population.
6. Ensuring that all staff and volunteers are made aware of and encouraged to
participate in decision making forums and processes; and
7. Ensuring that training offered by the station caters to the culturally specific learning requirements of different groups.
