Half a million warrantless meta data requests!

In August the government outlined plans to entrench in law a system to force internet service providers to retain metadata on the web sites that people visit. But did you know that the government already has the power to request your metadata if it already exists? What's worse is that law enforcement agencies can even get access to it without a warrant. So what exactly is this metadata and should we be worried about our privacy on the internet? Tom Worthington who is a lecturer at the Australian National University and an authority on ICT policy spoke to the daily.
