Steve Spacek has been likened to Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and has worked with industry heavy-weights across the globe including J Dilla, Slum Village, Mos Def, Common and many more. Giles Peterson from BBC1 has called him “the voice of modern soul”. You may know Steve’s face from his appearance on Seven’s “Boarder Patrol”.
Katalyst (Aus) is an internationally acclaimed producer born and bred here in Aus. His solo efforts have all been ARIA nominated releases. He works closely with many international artists and co runs Invada Records with Portishead's Geoff Barrow from Bristol UK, and is signed to prestigious boutique label BBE worldwide.
Their first collab “How Bout Us” made it into Giles Peterson's top 20 tracks for 2008 and went on to be licensed to numerous compilations around the globe.
“Soul-Fi” came about as a result of this collaboration, recorded in Sydney over the course of a year, the boys enlisted the talents of Buff 1 (Detroit), Dank (‘Frank & Dank’ from J-Dilla’s crew in Detroit), Jade Macrae, RuCL and Fantine. As well as receiving much love here in Australia on Triple J , taste makers Benji B (Radio One Xtra), Giles Peterson (Radio One) and key DJs on KCRW (Los Angeles) have been
championing the record on air abroad.
After the explosive crowd pleasing performance saturated in futuristic sounds and out of this world retro vibes at the recent Days Like This Festival , Space Invadas Live show is already creating waves and is already in demand.
