Final Draft Monday September 29, 7pm to 7.30pm A dark, confronting book for teenagers ends up on the wrong shelf in a Brisbane bookshop with unexpected consequences, and a fictional artist returns to the scene of her painful early years. This week we're talking books about troubled childhoods, and the troubles books can cause kids. Also, the first installment of the Final Draft listeners' bookclub, the Bookclub of the Air! Sideways Through Sound Monday September 29, 10.30pm to 12 midnight On tonight’s show there's brand new music from Orla Wren, Cheval Sombre and Brian Campeau. The Sideways Through Sound featured album this week is from Sydney’s very own Heidi Elva. I'll be playing a few tracks from her brand new album Ships And Trees and Heidi will also be here with me live in the studio, for a bit of a chat and hopefully to play a few songs for us too... Tuesday Overdrive Tuesday September 30, 4pm to 6pm Tune in to Tuesday Overdrive this week for the one, the only Dizzee Rascal! He'll be giving Kurt a call rom Perth to get us excited for his show this Wednesday at The Metro. Jailbreak Tuesday September 30, 6.30pm to 7pm Expect original sonnets, rap music and much more from some talented prison inmates at John Morony Correctional Centre and the Intensive Learning Centre. This weeks Jailbreak show is produced by music teacher Heiko Altmann and communications teacher Michael Riley from John Morony Correctional Complex and features William, Mitchell, Bo, Darcy, Andrew, Michael, Jack, Frank, Blake, Jessie and Robert as well as Greta from Justice Health. Tape Relay Tuesday September 30, 7.30pm to 9pm Tape Relay dances to the beat of Ohana's second album, Wilderness come out of the woods with their wheezing epic indierock and Deerhoof sparkles on their return album Offend Maggie. Plus we visit the Tomorrow of Sound and Fury on the label's new compilation, vibrant angular pop from Irish trio The Dudley Corporation and Color Caseette provides miniature compositions of fractured folk. Think MQ Wednesday October 1, 9am to 9.30am Ever wondered what makes Australia's best known scientist tick? Tim Flannery talks us through his boyhood, his passions and Australia's unique position in the climate change war path. Jumping the Gap Wednesday October 1, 12 midday to 1.30pm Be scared! Be very scared... or at least be listening. If all goes to plan and pentangles align with flight times and alarm clocks, then L.A.'s psyche-hop cult leader The Gaslamp Killer will join us in the studio to perform introductory rites to his Thursday night freak-rock mass at the Civic. Before he spits on our future graves, we'll keep things up and celebratory with some funky liturgical dancing. We Come From Garageland Thursday October 2, 10.30pm to 12 midnight Um, OK, so you know when a band or artist really falls in to it's own and releases a second album that reeks of brilliance so much that you cant even be in the same room as it without going nutso? It's beyond exciting. You'll hear 3 of them on this week's We Come From Garageland: new stuff from Lakes, Vincent Over the Sink and Ohana. Plus loads more, of course. Alt Metal Industry Friday October 3, 12 midnight to 2am Aussies Blood Duster, Mammal and Dogmachine are set to get the adrenalin pumping this Friday. Joined by Stone Sour and Coal Chamber you may fear overload but ms ill has lovingly selected sweet tunes such as Godsmack's serenity and an acoustic version of Smashing Pumpkins Cherub Rock to soothe you.
