Queernoise

Friday 7:00pm - 7:30pm

The Queernoise is 2ser’s contribution to queer media in Sydney. We look at issues of concern to queer groups, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex. Topics covered in the past nine months have included access to fertility treatments, censorship, the ongoing struggle for equal rights, religion vs sexuality, health initiatives, domestic violence and racism within the community, gay refugees in detention and the best way to bring up an intersex child.

The Queernoise attempts to challenge conventional wisdom by bringing in points of view from minority groups, some of whom would have little chance of getting exposure in any other way. The Queernoise is a vehicle for these groups to have voice and to help break down barriers within society.

Stephen Pickells

Your host Stephen Pickells lives in Surry Hills with his cat, Pramy, and 40,000 earthworms who shall remain nameless. His hobbies include watching Judge Judy and picking his nose. Stephen rose to prominence playing a parsnip in his primary school Christmas pageant. It was a role that would set the tone for his career. Stephen has worked as a graphic designer, landscape gardener, dog-walker, removalist and supplier of zips to the fashion industry. “I delivered so many zips” he said, “Now I want to do something useful with my life” Did he succeed? You be the judge. thequeernoise@2ser.com
