Sundial by The Maple Trail

The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Sundial by The Maple Trail.
The solo project of Eora/Sydney guitarist and vocalist Aidan Roberts (Belles will ring) rides into the sunset with a third, and final, solo album that bridges nostalgic dream pop with playful nostalgia and science fiction wonder.
The solo project of Aidan Roberts (Belles will ring) The Maple Trail has been active since the early 2000’s, releasing two albums: 2008’s Dirty Echo Spark and 2012’s Mount Cable Warning. In comparison to the alternative folk leanings of his first two albums, Sundial takes a more consciously synthesised direction and a sound that is shaped with modular gear, field recordings and 80s era ambience.
Mixed and engineered by producer Liam Judson, who crafted it to have what he calls a ‘dirty sunset sound’, this is a beautifully composed and human record that is imbued with a wistful energy throughout as well as a real sense of cinematic unravelling. Highly recommended.
