Way to the Sun by Minor Gold

The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Way to the Sun by Minor Gold.

The follow up to their acclaimed 2023 self-titled debut, the Meanjin/Brisbane duo of Dan Parsons and Tracy McNeil offer up a tightly focused and lushly composed record of coastal folk-rock and warm cosmic country. Written during a particularly inspiring five days in 2024, the album was recorded at California’s Ultimate Hari Farm studio by Dan Horne (Cass McCombs). Lyrically, this covers a lot of territory, from personal relations, self-empowerment, grief and escaping the ghosts of one’s past. It’s a beautiful, melodically rich take on a classic country/Americana sound, with warm production and an emphasis on musical clarity, particular in the keys and guitar.
