Flickerfest lights up Sydney with new short films

Flickerfest, Australia’s biggest short film festival, is launching at Bondi this Friday.
The Academy Award and BAFTA qualifying event showcases work from emerging Australian actors, writers and directors and is supported by some of Australia’s biggest names in the film industry, such as Cate Blanchett and Baz Luhrmann.
The 2026 program features the best short films across drama, documentary, animation and comedy.
One of the most anticipated films that will premiere this year is ‘Tuesday, Tuesday’, directed and written by Lianne Mackessy. The film is about a support worker who spends one final shift with her client living with younger-onset dementia who faces the complicated feelings that come with letting him go.
Lianne joined Eva and Will on The Daily show to speak more about her film which will be premiering this Friday evening at the opening night of Flickerfest.
