How to to spot AI-powered deepfake scams

New research shows Australians’ overconfidence in their ability to spot AI-powered deepfake scams. The majority (90%) of Australians feel confident they can spot a deepfake, but fewer than half (42%) actually can.
Deepfake scams use AI to create fake content – like photos, videos, voices or messages – that look and sound real. They trick people by copying faces, voices, or people you trust.
Monica Whitty, Professor of Human Factors in Cyber Security at Monash University joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss AI deepfake scammers and what we can do to protect ourselves from falling victim.
