$883 million for Rural Healthcare Workers

The NSW state government will be offering $10,000 for healthcare workers to relocate to rural areas, after a parliamentary inquiry revealed that healthcare services in these regions were suffering from critical staff shortages.

The four year funding commitment, worth $883 million, is expected to provide employment opportunities for Indigenous Nurses and interns, though it has been criticised by some witnesses of the rural health system, who say that the incentives will not solve the problems.
