#ArsonEmergency was trending on social media last week, aiming to fight the lies about bushfires and highlight the true cause of the bushfires raging across Australia. The only problem is… the claims the hashtag puts forth are the real lies. Arson isn’t the main cause of the bushfires.

So why did this hashtag explode? Are there more lies going around about the bushfires? And why would anybody lie about them in the first place?
