Australian jazz and soul legend Renee Geyer passes away

Iconic Australian soul and jazz singer Renee Geyer has sadly passed away today at the age of 69, following complications related to surgery.

Across a storied recording career, which began in the early 1970s, Geyer went on to release fifteen full length studio albums, as well as being an in-demand session and stage vocalist, working with a wide array of international artists, including Chaka Khan, Trouble Funk and Joe Cocker.

Known for her distinctive vocal style and delivery, she was a regular performer on the Australian jazz scene for over four decades, while much of her earlier work on RCA records has cult status as being among some of the finest RnB to be recorded in Australia. Geyer was inducted into the ARIA hall of fame in 2005.
