Australian sex workers peak body pushing for better represention in media

The sex work industry is one of the oldest professions in the world. This month Queensland’s parliament officially decriminalised sex work, joining Victoria, Northern Territory and New South Wales.

Scarlett Alliance – the national peak body for sex workers and sex worker organisations in Australia are now calling for improved representation of sex work in the media. Their new Instagram campaign urges the community to submit complaints to the Australian Press Council where media articles appear to drive “significant sensationalist attention” around sex workers.
