Australia’s Teaching Shortage Raises Concerns About Teaching Quality

The Federal Education Minister, Jason Clare, has declared Australia in a national teaching shortage.

With only 50% of university students finishing the teaching degree they started, concerns about how to keep teacher in the profession remains a major concern.

The government have pushed for creative incentives such as rewarding high-performing teachers with increased pay and maximising teachers time to teach. However, some are worried about that this might do to the level of personalisation and quality of Australian teachers
