Bankstown Metro Upgrades

The Bankstown rail line has been approved by the state government for a metro upgrade in 2019

First Introduced in 2012 by the transport minister, now Premier Gladys Berejiklian, the metro upgrade is an attempt to solve demand for more trains on the Bankstown line.

But, seven years on is the upgrade still needed?

Soofia Tariq talked to Mathew Hounsell, a senior research consultant at the Institute of Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney, about the viability of the project.
