Beyond the social media ban

The Albanese Government’s much-anticipated under-16 social media ban came into effect last week, but not everyone is convinced it is the answer.
Social media has created a litany of new challenges for children and adolescents in Australia and the world, but the Australian government’s world-first restrictions on social media have the potential to create different problems for potentially vulnerable young people.
The Monday Daily’s Eva Greifeneder and William Prott spoke to psychologist and Director of the Institute of Child Protection Studies at the Australian Catholic University, Professor Daryl Higgins, about this opposition to the ban.
