The craziest economic story of this year has had nothing to do with President Trump or even earnings – it’s been the volatile rise, collapse and re-rise of bitcoin. In the space of 9 months, the price of the cryptocurrency has inflated four times – and at one point, was five times its January 2017 benchmark price. With trillions of dollars traded every day, what’s all the hype – and why are traders so divided over its power?
