Bitter taste receptors could help develop new asthma drugs

In our mouths, we have five different taste receptors – sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami.

But which taste sensation could help us unlock answers about treating asthma?

Researcher Pawan Sharma is looking at how bitter taste receptors aren’t just found in the mouth, but in other parts of the body and how these receptors could help develop new drugs for asthma treatment.
