Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, are key growth areas for jobs and the economy.

Half of the population are missing out on this boom, with women distinctly under-represented in STEM industries.

STEM careers are heavily male dominated, and while women are aware of the challenges they’re likely to face in navigating STEM fields, some say the battle is worth it.
