Bugs in My Backyard Week

Bugs! They’re everywhere, if you look hard enough. But who is keeping an eye out?

Bugs are a crucial part of our world. They play a vital role in making sure the ecosystems that keep our planet liveable continue to work. Scientists are hard at work observing our native bugs, keeping an eye on changes in biodiversity, and monitoring dangerous invasive species. But there are only so many scientists to cover an immense amount of ground.

This is where citizen scientist initiative Bug Hunt — and the recent Bugs in My Backyard Week — comes in! The Monday Daily’s Eva Greifeneder spoke to Jess Ward-Jones from the Invasive Species Council to find out more this important project.
