Building Australia’s B-corp reputation

Most company directors have a legal obligation to make as much money as possible, and their shareholders have the right them to sue if they feel this obligation is not being met.

This pressure on directors is often passed on in the form of lower wages and environmental exploitation, but is this becoming a thing of the past?

B-corps have been called the certifications for corporations that fair trade is for coffee, and having one means a business has met certain standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

While they are only a certification in Australia, B-corps have a bit more bite overseas, so what’s the real benefit for these so-called ‘the best for the world’ corporations.
