Can BYD’s Dolphin EV compete against Tesla?

The new Dolphin EV by Build Your Dreams (BYD Auto) has become Australia’s cheapest electric car, at a starting price of $38, 890. Presenting a new challenger to the Tesla, and paving the way for a more affordable green transport sector. However, do these cars really stack up to the Tesla at a lower price, and will their introduction to Australia help transition the country’s polluting transport sector?

James Murray speaks with Professor Hussein Dia of Future Urban Mobility in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Swinburne University about the possibilities of these electric cars.
