Changes to VET student loans

Last week, the Federal government announced a massive overhaul of the Vocational Education and Training loans system, so that they can crack down on dodgy private training colleges. That’s bad news if you ever wanted to do a diploma of circus arts, butler service or jewellery making.
But should education ONLY be about getting a job? And will this reform fix the problems in the sector?

We spoke with Dr Mary Leahy, senior lecturer at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.
