Combatting gender bias in medicine

Gender bias in medicine continues to affect women’s health by potentially delaying diagnosis time and often leading to misdiagnosis. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is “breaking the bias” and sets out to beat stereotypes and celebrate diversity. Medical research traditionally used male participants as test participants, consequentially medical research still doesn’t account for biological differences between the sexes.
