Corruption Under The Microscope

In news that could really shake up the halls of power in Canberra, Bill Shorten is putting the pressure on Scott Morrison and the coalition to establish a federal anti-corruption watchdog in the final parliamentary sitting weeks of 2018, unless the government agrees to a bipartisan deal. Labor and the Greens have long supported the establishment of a watchdog which would expose serious corruption and possibly lead to the criminal prosecution of politicians.

So how realistic is it that we may have such a commission to keep our politicians accountable in the near future? We pondered the issue with Associate Professor of Government and International relations  Michael Hogan from the University of Sydney.
