Creative Compass is Supporting Refugee Artists

Creative Compass is a Settlement Services International program that supports newly arrived refugee artists to rebuild and sustain their creative practice in Australia through professional development, mentoring and pathways to exhibition and paid work.
In this conversation, Beth is joined by Ghasan, who manages the Creative Compass program, alongside participating artists Hosna and Ali. Together they discuss how the program supports artists through settlement, the importance of recognising refugee artists as working professionals, and the role of mentorship and industry connection. Hosna and Ali reflect on how their lived experiences shape their artistic practice, what exhibiting and selling work means for belonging and stability, and talk what’s next for Creative Compass.
