Dallas Rogers: The Housing Affordability Crisis

The great Australian dream as it so often is called is to buy a house and keep it. However, it’s a dream that seems to be becoming steadily out of reach. NewsLocal’s North Shore Times recently had a front page report about the newest trend of Australian youth- a parent-provided future with a guaranteed roof over their head. Investigations also show that urban poverty is not just geographical anymore- it’s also achieving the great paradox that the rich get abnormally richer and the poorer go backward. So where to next for Australia’s biggest sociocultural crisis? 2SER was Joined on the line by Dr Dallas Rogers, a research member for the Institute of Culture and Society, from Western Sydney University.
