Digital Defamation; New Proposal Could Tighten Free Speech

Social media platforms could soon be held liable for defamatory content posted by its users under a new proposal to parliament. Those who feel their name has been tarnished online will be able to direct complaints to a newly empowered body, who would then dictate if content should be deleted.

However, is this an even tighter grip on free speech in Australia?
