Disaspora Bingo

“But you’re a good driver?”, “You’re a coconut”, “Eurasians are hot” – to the Asian Australians out there, have you ever heard these before?

Sydney-based interdisciplinary artist, JD Reforma (from The Clothing Store Artist Studios) is bringing Diaspora Bingo to Carriageworks. It’s bingo, but without the numbers. The workshop that explores the Asian Australian diaspora by replacing the traditional numbers with textual truths of life that Asian Australians experience.

Nicole sits down with JD Reforma to delve deeper into how the workshop is designed to illuminate history, culture, and stereotypes of the lived Asian Australian experience.
