Exploring the ‘Metaverse’

Technology and the internet have dramatically changed the way we live day to day. We communicate, socialise, work and ultimately, live through the digital world. But, this may change in the future, as large tech companies like Facebook and Microsoft fund development in something called the “metaverse,” a concept coined in science fiction, that could have a significant effect on the way we live in both the virtual and real space.

Breakfast’s Willy Russo spoke with Dr Nick Kelly, a Senior Lecturer in Interior Design at Queensland University of Technology, to find out what the future and the metaverse may hold.
