EXTRA: Could Manuka honey treat infection?

Antibiotic resistance is as big a threat to humanity as climate change, or so say some researchers.

Our bodies have become resistant to antibiotics because of over-use or incorrect use, meaning many common diseases and infections may no longer be able to be treated.

A group of researchers at UTS are currently looking at whether manuka honey, which is found in Australia and NZ, might just help fight wound infections in particular.


Shona Blair from the iThree Institute at UTS spoke to Jake Morcom.
