As deadlines loom to cut carbon emissions, the NSW government is pushing local councils to set up kerb-side collections of household food waste.

It’s offering money to councils to help turn food and organic garden waste into compost for farms and landscaping.

But as Reporter Wendy Frew found out, it’s not as straightforward as it looks.
