Haiti Humanitarian Crisis

The recent assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and an atrocious earthquake have pressured many Haitians to flee the country. For several days, thousands of Haitians have camped in the US – Mexico with the hopes of entering the U.S.

Shortly after the assassination of the country’s President, false rumors began to spread on social media platforms that the Biden administration was handing out humanitarian visas to Haitians in need. This misinformation may have caused a false sense of hope.
