Hakeem al-Araibi was released from prison in Thailand earlier this week and has arrived back in Australia on the heels of a massive, global campaign to release him. The #SaveHakeem campaign, spearheaded by former Socceroo, Craig Foster captured international attention and garnered support from around the world. Now that he’s been released, we asked, “How did the campaign succeed?”. Dr Graham Tom, refugee coordinator at Amnesty International joined us on The Daily to unpack the question.
