Is Comparative Assessment Hijacking Quality Education in Australian Schools?

With the new school year creeping up on us, academics suggest a new reason for the decline of quality of education occurring in Australian rural schools.

Following The Gonski review into education quality, findings attacked Australian schooling quality, urging for an individualized teaching approach.

However, with big education decisions, largely made in capital cities, research suggests that the competitive pressure placed on teachers to meet national performance rates may be to blame.  

To discuss how efforts by local teachers to provide high-quality education are hijacked by comparative assessment and reporting agendas, we were joined by leading education expert, Dr. Alison Willis.
