Australia has a “highly gender segregated workforce” by international standards, with around 6 in 10 Australian employees working in an industry dominated by one sex. STEM – that’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths – is seen as particularly male-dominated. But, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel – or telescope to be more exact!

A recent paper published by Professor Lisa Kewley, Director of the ASTRO 3D Centre of Excellence and at the Australian National University, shows Australian astronomy leading the way with a dramatic change in culture over recent years.
