Job Market for Young Australians

What is it like for young people trying to get their foot in the door for employment?

For NSW Youth Week, we are looking at an inquiry that poses this very question. The National Youth Commission Australia’s Inquiry into Youth Employment and Transitions focuses on the challenges young people face entering the workforce.

Their report states while “Young people represent less than one-fifth of the total labor force [they] comprise more than one-third of all unemployed people.”

On Wednesday Daily we were joined by Sophie Johnston, a youth commissioner, at the National Youth Commission Australia to discuss the job market for young Australians and the challenges entering the workforce.
