Julian Assange Granted New Australian Passport

Yesterday, during a Senate estimates hearing, it was announced by an official from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that Julian Assange’s application for a new Australian passport had been accepted late last year. This important development comes amid reports that Ecuadorian government, which has granted Assange asylum since 2012, may be preparing end his current status. Dr Binoy Kampmark, Senior Lecturer at RMIT and former Senate candidate for the Wikileaks party joined us on The Daily to discuss this latest development.
