Junk Food May Be Affecting Your Memory!

UNSW researchers have found links between junk food consumption and loss of spatial memory in a recent study conducted on animals. The study investigated cognitive function in rats. One group of rats were fed only foods that were high in fat and sugar such as baked goods and chips, the other group of rats consumed their regular, healthy diet.

Over a period of 6 weeks, the rats that were fed junk food consecutive days in a row showed concerning results in comparison to their healthy meal counterparts. To learn more we were joined by senior author of the study Professor Margaret Morris, Chair and Head of Pharmacology at the School of Medical Sciences at UNSW.
