When Love Becomes a Political Issue

What could the same-sex marriage plebiscite mean for the people it would affect the most?

Australia, alongside Northern Ireland, is the only English-speaking Western nation to still distinguish marriage to be a union between a man and a woman.

Malcolm Turnbull’s government promised a plebiscite on the issue come re-election, but Labor instead has announced in recent days it will introduce a motion for a parliamentary vote.

Adrian Walton talks to  Ali Hogg, convenor of Equal Love – an Aussie campaign for marriage equality – about what all this political squabble means for the community it will impact most.
