Milking Horseshoe Crab’s Blue Blood For Vaccines

What has ten legs, blue blood and is helping us test our vaccines? No, it’s not a scientist in a lab experiment gone wrong. It’s a horseshoe crab. They’re one of the oldest animals in the world – dating back 450 million years – but are helping solve one of medicine’s most modern problems: vaccine safety, thanks to their special blue blood.
