Misconceptions Surrounding Family Domestic Violence in Faith Communities

A new study conducted by the Australian National University has found that family violence is often poorly understood in faith communities. Looking from Christians to Muslims, Buddhists to Jews, research found that there is often attitudes and practices that deny or minimise experiences of family domestic violence – whether through a lack of education, hierarchal gender roles or an overemphasis on forgiveness.

We spoke with Dr Mandy Truong about common misconceptions surrounding FDV, and how we can effectively reduce FDV in faith communities.
