Monopoly turns 90 – and look how it’s evolved!

The board game Monopoly has been a firm favourite for 90 years now, with its fantasy world of cut-throat property dealing and the tantalising hope of financial success … but it started out with a quite different purpose.

Dr Lisa Hackett has looked into its roots in a 1903 game that modelled economic scenarios, and how Monopoly ended up so popular.

She is Senior Lecturer in Cultural History at the University of New England, and joined Cameron Furlong on the Thursday Daily this morning.
