New Encryption Bill To Be Passed in Australian Parliament, Allowing Police Greater Access To Your Smartphones

 

Australia is set to pass a controversial encryption bill that will allow authorities greater access to your smartphone messages by the end of the week,  despite ongoing privacy concerns from IT firms and global tech giants. The new encryption bill will provide police agencies greater access to what you text, but have been slammed for being too broad and vague, possibly damaging the security of the global digital economy, across the world.  Tim Norton, the Chairman of Digital Rights Watch, joined The Daily this morning to explore its implications.
