New research helps conquer the fear of public speaking

Anxiety about public speaking can be crippling. It can hit us whenever we’re called on to speak in front of others – maybe for our work, our communities and sports teams, or for our families.

Carly Johnco is Associate Professor in the School of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University, and Deputy Director of the Macquarie University Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre.

She’s here on the Thursday Daily to share new research that says exposure therapy – summoning the courage to face the fear head-on – helps reduce anxiety about speaking in front of an audience.
