New South Wales has officially become the first state in the country to reach 100,000 electric vehicles on the road. It’s a landmark moment, but what’s even more interesting is where this boom is happening. It’s not the inner city leading the charge, it’s families in outer‑suburban postcodes who are embracing electric cars in record numbers.
According to new analysis from the National Automotive Leasing and Salary Packaging Association, suburbs like Kellyville, Marsden Park, and Baulkham Hills are topping the charts for EV uptake. These are areas where households often face longer commutes, higher fuel costs, and where home charging, often paired with rooftop solar, makes owning an EV not just convenient, but genuinely cost‑effective.
