Giving birth is a joyous experience for most mums, but when it goes wrong, it can cause problems such as post-traumatic stress.

It’s not just mother’s affected either, new research shows traumatic births also have an impact on midwives and obstetricians.

So, how can hospitals and birth units better assist their staff?
