Ola has pulled out of rideshare in Australia – what’s important about that?

Just recently Indian rideshare giant Ola announced that it would abruptly cease operations in Australia, as well as NZ and the UK.

The rideshare company started in India in 2011 and has been operating in Australia since 2018. With Uber practically cornering the market, what does this now mean for drivers, passengers and Ola’s future overseas?  

Neil Sipe, Honorary Professor of Planning at The University of Queensland, joined 2SER this morning to talk with us about the future of ridesharing.
