Olivia Coe Fox: Bringing First Nations Language to a National Stage

Olivia Coe Fox is a Wiradjuri singer and Primary Education student at the University of Sydney. In 2025 she became the first person to perform in an First Nations language on The Voice Australia, singing in Yawuru.
She joins Beth to talk about how she brought language and cultural practice into a national broadcast setting, and the opportunities that have come from it. She also reflects on her work supporting Aboriginal language and cultural programs in schools, and the value of introducing language learning early. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue working across both teaching and music, with a focus on language revitalisation and contributing to broader conversations about visibility, representation and cultural leadership in the arts.
