Plato for the Digital Age: Ancient Wisdom, Modern Questions

The ancient Greek philosopher Plato might not have had Wi-Fi, but his ideas about truth, justice, and leadership feel more relevant than ever. In an era of misinformation, AI, and social media noise, Plato reminds us to pause, question, and think deeply about what it means to live a good life.

Joining us is Dr David Horan, Leader of the School of Philosophy and Economic Science in Ireland and member of the Plato Centre at Trinity College Dublin. He has just completed the first single-author English translation of The Dialogues of Plato in over 150 years. His new translation brings Plato’s ideas to life in clear, accessible language for a new generation of readers.

Across the conversation, Dr Horan explores how Plato might view the rise of AI, social media, and modern politics and how his writings can still guide us toward critical thinking, ethical living, and wonder in a distracted world.

You can hear Dr David Horan in person at two special events in Wahroonga this December:
